"In early 1997, a prominent member of the Australian EMC community called for expressions of interest in forming an EMC society. Approximately 20 people volunteered their services for drafting of a business plan ( and many other foundation related tasks )."

The EMC society was formed in November 1997.

Today there are approximately 100 members. About 20 members are involved in various administrative capacities
